The Sociology department is one of the most productive departments in the country for generating new scholarly investigations in population and health, development and environment, and political and cultural sociology.
The Sociology Department offers a number of Sociology scholarships each year that cover up to 18 hours of resident tuition for two semesters. Continuing Sociology students, transfer students, and incoming freshman are encouraged to apply for these scholarships.

A Donor-Advised Fund offers the opportunity to create an easy-to-establish, low cost, flexible vehicle for charitable giving as an alternative to direct giving or to creating a private foundation. This is accomplished by first establishing a DAF with an irrevocable donation to a public charity that sponsors a DAF program. The donor then recommends the allocation of the donated assets to a qualified public charity (such as the University of Utah).
