Character Dance Ensemble is a group of dedicated School of Dance students at the University of Utah. The Ensemble’s mission is to provide dancers with academic and performance-related opportunities in different dance styles from around the world, enrich the student experience through travel and cross-cultural interaction, and share their international experience with the University of Utah and greater Salt Lake City communities.
Since its inception in 1995, CDE has studied and presented character, folk, ethnic, historical, and national dance forms from across the world. This international research and practice informs their study of dance as a whole, broadens their perspective, and enhances their versatility as dancers. CDE is eager for opportunities to continue their research of the authentic roots of international dance forms and also share their repertoire through performances, lecture/demonstrations, and community partnerships.

A Donor-Advised Fund offers the opportunity to create an easy-to-establish, low cost, flexible vehicle for charitable giving as an alternative to direct giving or to creating a private foundation. This is accomplished by first establishing a DAF with an irrevocable donation to a public charity that sponsors a DAF program. The donor then recommends the allocation of the donated assets to a qualified public charity (such as the University of Utah).
